A Tacoma family business built on hard work, honesty, and nearly five decades of loyal customer relationships.
As a small boy, Verne Pearson collected scrap metal around the Tacoma Tide Flats. Years later, upon returning from his military service in Vietnam, Verne and his wife Donna began Pearson Metal Salvage in 1976. With only one truck that needed to be pull-started every morning, Verne went to work buying and selling scrap metals around the Puget Sound from local businesses and the general public.
Pearson Metal Salvage grew into a true family business when their son Michael and daughter Deann began working alongside their parents from a young age. In 2019, the business was turned over to Michael and Deann when Verne and Donna retired.
From that single truck and years of hard work, the business has grown to include numerous trucks, trailers, rail cars, and barges handling the buying and selling of thousands of tons of metals locally and across the globe. With government contracts, local business partnerships, and the trust of the general public, Pearson Metal Salvage has remained a family-owned business for over 50 years — built on hard work, honesty, and knowing the importance of loyal employees, longtime customer relationships, and family values.
